The Ithaca New Music Collective Call for Scores

The Ithaca New Music Collective is a group of musicians in Ithaca, NY dedicated to representing the diverse sounds of the composers that are affiliated with the Ithaca community. The ensemble regularly performs works written by composers from Ithaca College, Cornell University, and residents of Ithaca, and the collective strives to bring this music into the Ithaca community and beyond.
This year, for the first time in its history, the ensemble is conducting a national call for scores. Three works will be selected for the competition and will be performed at the ensemble’s annual “Ghostly Gathering” Halloween-themed concert in October.
Prize: The winning composer will receive a $300 prize. INMC cannot offer travel stipends at this time. Selected composers who are traveling to Ithaca will be provided with local accommodations.
Who can apply
Composers of any age living in the US, or students in a US degree program.
Duration
Submissions can be of any length, although preference will be given to works that are 5 to 12 minutes for inclusion in the October 28th concert.
Instrumentation
Mezzo Soprano (for more information see www.caitlinmathes.com )
Flute/piccolo/alto flute/bass flute (1 player)
Oboe/English horn (English Horn including B flat extensions)
Trombone
Percussion (vibraphone and a 4.3 octave marimba available)
Violin
Double Bass (no C extension)
Any subset of the ensemble can be submitted, although preference will be given to works utilizing the full ensemble
Additional electronics / media is accepted

Three works will be selected for inclusion in the next INMC concert at Argos Warehouse in Ithaca on Monday, October 28, 2019. The winning composer will be announced at the concert and will receive a $300 prize. Applicants are required to attend one rehearsal either in person or via Skype.
